Classroom Materials
The Montessori materials in the classroom are categorized as Practical Life, Sensorial, and Academic. A student generally begins with the Practical Life excercies. Sensorial are used by all ages. Academic materials cover reading, mathematics, and geography. Materials are placed in an orderly and attractive fashion within easy reach of even the smallest children.
Our Program
Our Program offers carefully prepared indoor and outdoor environments. It is creative, secure, loving, orderly and flexible to meet the needs of each child. There is a strong emphasis on the preparation of the environment, observation of the child, and individual freedom for the child. The classroom is an interactive learning environment that supports positive self-esteem and independence. The children are taught and given responsibility and respect which helps foster the community environment.
The program is ideally designed as a three year program, offering two years of preschool and the third year as Kindergarten. The mix of ages in the classrooms encourages a variety of learning opportunities. The younger children learn from the older more experienced peers while also helping to guide those younger or less experienced than they. The atmosphere is one of community.
Schedule Options
Our program is offered for either half-day (8:30 – 12:30) or a full day (8:30 – 3:00). Extended hours are available beginning at 7:30am and ending at 5:30pm. The school year runs from September through mid-June and a Summer Program with weekly themes is offered as an option during the summer weeks.
